Verses for Encouragement

Verses for Encouragement

Sometimes our lives can be overwhelming, really overwhelming.  In honor of Eating Disorder’s Awareness Week, I would like to share a devotion with all of you.

Recovery from an eating disorder is really really hard.  It takes every ounce of strength you have in your body.  Sometimes you get discouraged, sometimes you get hurt.. but you know what?  Recovery is the best option in the world.

Every now and then, we need encouragement to keep us trucking along through life.  We as humans don’t have the strength or wisdom to handle every problem that arises, but we have a God that does!

Here are a few verses for when you just need a boost.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.
John 16:33

For his eyes are on the ways of a man, and he sees all his steps.
Job 34:21

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Psalm 16:11

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
2 Timothy 1:7

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.  Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.
Isaiah 26:3-4

Give all of your weakness and worry to God.  There is nothing too big for Him to overcome.

Take care,

  1. One word: respect!
I can’t have anything else than respect for you. I’ve seen girls with eating disorders who didn’t want to admit they had a problem and now I see you, recovering and supporting others who need a little bit of encouragement. That’s just so great, I don’t even know the right words for it.
