Our Strength Comes From the LORD

Be strong and courageous.

Do not be afraid or terrified because of them,

for the LORD your God goes with you;

he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Deuteronomy 31:6

At least once in our lives we have felt alone, lost, or forgotten or maybe a little of all three.  It is a terrible, gut-retching feeling that all humans go through at some point in their lives.  From the passage above, what stands out to you most?  Reread it a couple of times.  Is it o not be afraid?  Be strong?  Everything about this passage of Deuteronomy breathes strength and compassion.  God is always there for you.

Imagine a large rock.  A boulder, even.  It never moves, it doesn’t change, and it never leaves where it is.  It goes through a great deal of destruction by the elements, such as rain and wind, but it stays there.  God is our rock.  He doesn’t stray away from us.  He is always by our side helping us through our journey of life the He has so kindly blessed us with.  If you ever feel worn down, just know that God is close, and there is no need to be afraid.  God will always give you strength.

As you go through the course of your life, you are going to move closer and farther from the Rock of Our Salvation.  That doesn’t mean that He has left you.  It just means that you in your journey are changing.  He will always be there waiting for you with wide open arms.  So do not be afraid or feel alone, be strong and courageous because God made YOU that way!

  1. I’ve always loved this verse. What stands out to me the most is when it’s declared that He will never leave or forsake you. No matter how many times we stumble and fall short he’ll still be by our side waiting for us to come crawling back and watching over us.
